St. Patty’s Day

Comment 1 Standard

I’m not usually one to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day but this year was different.  This year I discovered the person behind the day and then I was on board.  Not with all the leprechauns and gold at the end of the rainbow but with remembering those from long ago and how God worked in their lives and spread His word to the world.

ImageBorn in Great Britain Patrick did not become a true follower of Christ until his later teenage years.  At 16 he was captured by Irish pirates and taken back to Ireland.  For 6 years he was a slave and it was during those years he remember the teachings of his parents and found Christ.  He was able to escape and made his way back to his family.  Despite being taken as a slave he wanted to share his faith with the Irish and he headed back there as a missionary.  He is known for using the three leafed clover to aid in explaining the Trinity.  For 30 years he spread lived there and Gospel.  He started 300 churches and around baptized 120,000 people!  Amazing work of God in Patrick’s life and a show of how thirsty the Irish were for the Truth.

To celebrate this holiday we made a quick trip to a friends house for dessert.  Nothing big (or even planned really) but fun all the same!

Tis the season…

Today the Thames family went on our yearly outing to search high and low for the best tree this side of the Nooksack river. So we headed to Fullner’s Tree farm.

The perfect tree was found and everyone took their turn with the saw.

This was our first year at this farm and we thought it was great. They have a wood elf named Hans. He is hidden somewhere on the farm and if you find him you get a prize. we didnt take the time this year to search (something about high winds and rain) but next year he better watch out! He has his own cabin and everything.

He has risen!!!!

There is many things that could be said about today but these simply words say it all.  MY  Lord Jesus the Christ has risen and is alive and well!  I wanted to share with all of you one of my favorite part of this amazing story:

“And behold, two of them were going that very day to a village named Emmaus, which was threescore furlongs from Jerusalem. And they communed with each other of all these things which had happened. And it came to pass, while they communed and questioned together, that Jesus himself drew near, and went with them. But their eyes were holden that they should not know him. And he said unto them, What communications are these that ye have one with another, as ye walk? And they stood still, looking sad. And one of them, named Cleopas, answering said unto him, Dost thou alone sojourn in Jerusalem and not know the things which are come to pass there in these days? And he said unto them, What things? And they said unto him, The things concerning Jesus the Nazarene, who was a prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people: and how the chief priests and our rulers delivered him up to be condemned to death, and crucified him. But we hoped that it was he who should redeem Israel. Yea and besides all this, it is now the third day since these things came to pass. Moreover certain women of our company amazed us, having been early at the tomb; and when they found not his body, they came, saying, that they had also seen a vision of angels, who said that he was alive. And certain of them that were with us went to the tomb, and found it even so as the women had said: but him they saw not. And he said unto them, O foolish men, and slow of heart to believe in all that the prophets have spoken! Behooved it not the Christ to suffer these things, and to enter into his glory? And beginning from Moses and from all the prophets, he interpreted to them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself. And they drew nigh unto the village, whither they were going: and he made as though he would go further. And they constrained him, saying, Abide with us; for it is toward evening, and the day is now far spent. And he went in to abide with them. And it came to pass, when he had sat down with them to meat, he took the bread and blessed; and breaking it he gave to them. And their eyes were opened, and they knew him; and he vanished out of their sight. And they said one to another, Was not our heart burning within us, while he spake to us in the way, while he opened to us the scriptures? And they rose up that very hour, and returned to Jerusalem, and found the eleven gathered together, and them that were with them, saying, The Lord is risen indeed, and hath appeared to Simon. (Luke 24:13-34 ASV)”

He has risen indeed!!!

Antioch Adoptions

For those of you that don’t know we have began the adventure of bringing someone new into our family by way of adoption. Yeah!!! : -) We turned in our application a few weeks ago and on the 19th of November we go down to Kirkland for our interview. To be honest there are two interviews, one with the pastor of Antioch church (who sponsors’ the program), and with the program administrator. It is so nerve racking for us, so we ask for your prayers during this whole process.

Antioch Adoptions (for those of you that don’t know) is a adoption service that helps provide homes to kids in need just like all adoption services but what they do that others don’t is help with the fees that accompanies the adoptions. They call it “No Fee Adoption”, and this is what caught my eye because some adoptions can cost upward of $20,000. Which is a whole lot of money, and would keep alot of people who would love to adopt out of the picture. They do all types of adoptions from foster to adopt, to young mothers who want there children in a loving environment in which they themselves can’t provide.

We are so excited to add to our family. So we ask again for your prayers through this process. Oh one other thing the website for Antioch Adoptions is http://www.antiochadoptions.org/. So if any of you want to look up to info about them for yourself and your family you can go to the website or you can contact us if you would like.
